Step 1: From the Mountain to the Molten
Our story begins where copper’s legacy once ruled the world – Parys Mountain in Amlwch, Anglesey, once the global copper capital. This mine powered the Royal Navy, lit the streets of London, and bankrolled the Empire.
Today, we honour that legacy – sourcing copper with provenance and pride.
- Raw copper is heated to its melting point of 1,085°C in precision crucibles.
- Go too hot, and purity is lost; too cold, and the pour is flawed.
- Every pour is timed, tested, and treated with reverence – blending science with story.
Step 2: The Pour – Art in Motion
Once molten, the copper is poured by hand into custom trapezoidal moulds – inspired by London Good Delivery bars, reimagined for copper.
As it cools, copper forms its signature ripples and “crinkly bottoms” – hallmarks of the IWT ArtBar™ family. These aren’t defects. They’re birthmarks of authenticity – fingerprints of fire and time.
Every bar is different. Every bar unique.
Step 3: Linishing, Polishing & Lacquering
After cooling, raw bars are linished – sanded and shaped by hand.
Then the true transformation begins. Using techniques from jewellery and aerospace engineering, our artisans polish each ArtBar to a mirror finish.
Finally, we coat every bar with a specialist lacquer, letting collectors handle their copper without gloves – no plastic vacuum seals, no barriers. Just the raw warmth of copper as a precious metal.
Step 4: Hand Stamping – Every ArtBar a Signature
Here the soul is pressed into copper.
Each ArtBar is hand-stamped with:
- The Ingots We Trust seal
- A unique serial number
- The PS™️ XRF assayed and certified hallmark (24K Cu / .9999 pure copper)
- Custom artisan marks that evolve with our collection
Weight, origin, purity, and legacy – all made permanent in copper.
Step 5: Inspection & Legacy Guarantee
Before leaving IWT HQ, each bar undergoes strict multi-point quality control:
